Koester Pavilion Celebrates National Physical Therapy Month

Koester Pavilion, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, is celebrating National Physical Therapy Month, a nationwide observance held each October. In honor of PT Month, the staff, residents, and patients of Koester would like to recognize their Physical Therapy Department. The team consists of one physical therapist and three physical therapist assistants.

Koester Pavilions Rehab Department is led by Amanda Spitler, COTA/L, Therapy Program Manager. She has been a licensed clinician for four years and has been at Koester Pavilion for two years. Angela Sullenberger, PT, DPT, has six years experience as a Physical Therapist and has worked for Koester Pavilion for two years. She is married with a very active one-year-old little boy. Heather Goodwin, PTA has been a Physical Therapy Assistant for nine years and has worked her entire clinical career at Koester Pavilion. She leads a very active life taking care of her husband, two boys and little girl. Goodwin enjoys spending time with her patients and hearing all their life stories. Alana Denlinger, PTA, has been a Physical Therapy Assistant for 15 years and has been a treating clinician at Koester Pavilion for the last ten years. She enjoys seeing her patients benefit in a positive way from participating in Physical Therapy Rehabilitation. Last, but not least, is the youngest and newest member of our Physical Therapy team, Mikayla Hakala, PTA. She has just recently graduated and obtained her license as a Physical Therapy Assistant and has been with the Koester Pavilion rehab team since June.

The Koester team offers therapy services up to seven days per week. They specialize in stroke rehab, orthopedic rehab, including joint replacement, strengthening, balance and gait training to get the patients back to their previous level as soon as possible. "The Koester Physical Therapy team is a great asset to our patient and residents. We are unique in providing the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill as part of our physical therapy experience," said Greg Nijak, Koester Administrator.
